If you complete the challenge, you’d be joining a unique band of runners. To date, only four ultra-marathoners have completed our Grand Slam and earned themselves our bespoke hoodie, although this year’s entrants are still hoping to do so by completing the Thames Trail in October.
If you need to be tempted any further, anyone signing-up to take on the Grand Slam will get a discounted ticket, giving you entry to all four races for just £244, and the option to pay in three installments.

Country to Capital – This 43-mile run takes you from Buckinghamshire to Little Venice in London and is a fantastic winter countryside event, as well as the start of the ultra running season in the UK
Rose of the Shires – 54-miles of beautiful Northamptonshire country trails, roads and towpath, with a route the features around 70% trail and 30% on road
Shires and Spires – A 35-mile race based in the village of Naseby, this event takes in some of the most interesting country houses and historical sites in England (and includes a host of alternative distances)
Thames Trail – A tough, but fun, 47-mile run along the Thames from Oxford to Henley, taking in beautiful houses and traditional rowing clubs
Get prepared for the Grand Slam with this year’s Thames Trail – complete with our new finish line
If you like the idea of the Grand Slam challenge, but feel you need a ‘practice’ ultra run first then there is still time to enter the 2024 version of our Thames Trail race.
This 47-mile point-to-point race running from Iffley, Oxfordshire to Henley-on-Thames, takes in ever changing scenery, beautiful houses and traditional rowing clubs. You should expect everything from tarmac paths to muddy trails.
We’ve even got a flash new finish this year. We have moved the event’s finish line to the YMCA Y Centre, in Lawson Road, Henley-on-Thames. It’s not far from our previous finishing line, but has the added benefits of a big hall, a kitchen, male and female changing rooms, toilets and showers.
I like to think of it as the Ritz of the ultra running world!
A quick note on cut-off times as well, as people have previously commented they may be a little tight. We’ll be extending the cut-off by 30 minutes to recognise that and to accommodate the new finish.
