Going ‘Beyond the Finish Line’ to embrace the running community

“The business allows me to make sure we’re getting as many people as possible involved in running as we can, and I’m very lucky that I get to meet some incredible athletes from all over the world.

“It makes me smile sometimes that I’ve got my little office in Wellingborough and it’s in a small office, and yet we are attracting runners globally.”

It’s not everyday you get to tell your story on a podcast, so when Joe Hardin from Beyond The Finish Line invited me on to his show, I was excited to talk all things running.

What I hadn’t expected was for his first question to be ‘who is Simon Hollis’?

After a brief rabbit-in-the-headlights moment, I successfully managed to turn the conversation back to running and Go Beyond!

Joking aside, the above quote from the show, which is part of a group of podcasts called the Everyday Athlete Podcast Network, sums up nicely why we do what we do at Go Beyond Challenge.

Putting on a variety of races that can be embraced by everyone from elite runners to first-timers is central to what we do.

I genuinely love seeing all the different runners, from all over the world, who come and take part in our ultra marathons, our Dirt Runs, The Amazing Northampton Run and the relay and three-mile events that sit alongside it, and our 5k Beat The Sunset run.

Joe and I spoke about how some of the super athletes who compete in races are so inspiring, but also so humble. It’s something that is so unique and brilliant about our community.

I love simply calling people who have questions, to talk to them about running. Sometimes they seem surprised to hear from the race director, but what better way to spend the day than chatting about this amazing sport of ours.

And that is what Joe and I did! If you want to catch up with what we had to say, simply watch or listen below on Spotify and YouTube.
