Day three of our Nepalese Capital to Country adventure and sadly we had our first drop-out.
Running ultra marathons is hard and not everyone can hack multi-day events… including our new found friend, Ultra Dog!
Yesterday, the pooch completed an impressive 30km alongside our four runners. But sadly, despite lining up on the start line, he was a non-starter today… perhaps he was dog tired!
Maybe the hound’s reticence was down to the fact that this was the longest day of our five out in the foothills of Nepal, clocking in at 30 challenging miles.
Today’s route started with a short run along the road, then a climb out of the valley. Our runners enjoyed stunning views and incredible temples as they looked over the river valley below.
The river eventually led them to a grey, sandy beach where they were finally able to relax.
Richard and Matt came in first, while Avi and Louise finished about an hour-and-a-half later, still well before sunset.
This was a lovely sunny day, but the miles are adding up so the runners will doubtless be looking forward to a short day tomorrow… although possibly not to the big climb up to the village for the finish.
We’ll be keeping you up date with the adventure here, as well as on our Facebook and Instagram pages – with plenty more breathtaking photography from our intrepid photographer Adrian Howes, who will be taking to the back of a motorbike to capture some amazing images along the way.
